Her Excellency, the Honourable Linda Dessau AC, Governor of Victoria and Mr Anthony Howard AM QC, officially launched the Victorian Artists Society’s 150th Anniversary Celebrations on the night of Tuesday 10 March 2020.

In this exhibition VAS artists are asked to explore subjects from a 21st century perspective, challenging themselves creatively. This Exhibition is sponsored by the George Hicks Foundation.

VAS Summer Exhibition 2023

This is the first VAS exhibition of 2023. We look forward to welcoming members and visitors back to our galleries with a celebration of summer. This exhibition features prizes for painting of: 1st, $600; 2nd, $300; 3rd, $100; and sculpture of: 1st, $600; 2nd, $300 and 3rd, $100

VAS Mavis Little Artist of the Year 2021

This impressive exhibition features artworks by select Victorian Artists Society artists, who have been invited to participate after receiving the highest number of votes from their peers.  This is a prestigious award and much sort after.

On Sunday members of the VAS Paint Out group travelled to Williamstown for a day of painting at Williamstown Railway Station and Point Gellibrand.

The Association of Sculptors of Victoria 2023

More than 100 sculptures by emerging and professional sculptors will be exhibited. They will be diverse in style, subject and in a variety of materials including wood, bronze, steel, resin and mixed media.

VAS Winter Select Exhibition 2023

One of three Select Exhibitions held each year by VAS. Votes cast by exhibiting artists are used to decide the list of candidates for the Artist of the Year Award Exhibition. The Winter Exhibition features prizes of Senior Art Supplies vouchers to the value of: 1st prize, $600. 2nd prize, $150. 3rd prize $100. Sculpture prize, $150.

Open House Melbourne Weekend 2023

An annual event which opens hundreds of buildings across Melbourne and Victoria to the public. This event is run to foster community appreciation for architecture and encourage engagement in conversations about the future of our city.

Norma Bull Etchings & Paintings

A display of historic copper plates, etchings and paintings by Norma Bull.

Genesis Baroque presents Kammermusik

Genesis Baroque is a Melbourne/Naarm-based period chamber orchestra founded in 2017 by Artistic Director and violinist, Jennifer Kirsner, and directed by baroque violinist Lucinda Moon.

VAS Portrait Exhibition 2023

This annual exhibition, featuring the Nada Hunter Portraiture Award celebrates portraiture in all genres. An inspiring array of talent by some of Victoria’s emerging and established artists skillfully capturing the human spirit.

VAS Norma Bull Scholarship Award Exhibition 2023

This is a biennial award which aims to encourage students of all ages to advance in the naturalistic style of portraiture. The 2023 scholarship is for $5000, which will enable the winning artist to further progress their painting practice.

VAS Art School Exhibition 2023

This exhibition showcases the range of artistic practices and mediums that are taught at the VAS Art School. Encompassing oil, watercolour, pastel, drawing, acrylic, gouache and sculpture, both students and teachers works on show will reveal the diversity and creativity within the school.

Australian Society of Marine Artists National Exhibition 2023

The second year of the Australian Society of Marine Artists collaborating with the Victorian Artists Society in an exhibition of Marine and Maritime works of art.

VAS Maritime Exhibition 2023

This exhibition features artworks including tall ships, peaceful beach scenes and the ever changing moods of the ocean.

VAS Edward Heffernan Drawing Exhibition 2023

The 'Edward Heffernan Memorial Drawing Prizes' are awarded in honour of Edward Heffernan, past president of VAS from 1977 to 1980. He served on the VAS Council for 12 years and was also awarded the Distinguished VAS Service Award, Honorary life Membership, VAS Fellowship and the Order of Australia Medal for his services to Arts.

Revelations in Art: Celebrating 15 Years of Jimmy He's Creative Vision

Jimmy He is one of Australia's renowned abstract expressionist painters, currently residing in Melbourne. Painting is an art form brimming with creativity and expressiveness. Over his fifteen-year artistic journey, people are able to witness the continuous evolution of his artistic perspective and aesthetics, with a greater emphasis on the language of painting and the use of colour.
