With 150 years of history, the Victorian Artists Society (VAS) remains one of Australia’s preeminent art institutions. Established in 1870 by early impressionist painters, VAS is a society for art practitioners and lovers. Our membership is made up of people ranging from new hobbyists right through to very accomplished and awarded artists. Our network is large and far reaching.
The Heritage Victoria and National Trust listed building today houses a modern organisation with proud artistic origins. The studio hosts a wide variety of classes across a number of mediums.
The five beautifully restored galleries showcase member exhibitions as well as visiting artists and international art shows.
More than just galleries, the VAS building is a vibrant and elegant meeting place for people who love to view, learn, create and exhibit art. You can read more about the benefits of being a member here.
As a not-for-profit organisation and a registered charity, we depend on donations and the hard work of volunteers to organise events and exhibitions. If you are interested in supporting VAS, read more about donating or .

We would like to pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which our building stands, their leaders, past, present and emerging.
