Vale Robert Wade

Sadly, on the evening of Tuesday 30 January 2024, Robert Wade OAM passed away. He was 93 years of age. I’m told that his passing was peaceful and he was surrounded by family.

Robert had a strong connection to our society.

In addition to his many other artistic associations, he was a VAS fellow and a former councillor, serving in the 1980s, and two-time winner of the VAS 'Artist of the Year' (1985 & 1986). He was known and respected around the globe, exhibiting and winning over 60 awards world-wide for his watercolours. Robert is represented in the VAS Collection with one of his magnificent works titled Red Sails.

Known as a true gentleman, he was much admired by the art fraternity and held in the highest esteem for his teaching and mentoring skills and promoting his craft.

I have been in touch with Robert’s family and on behalf of the society, passed on our condolences.

The memorial takes place at VAS on February 27th at 6.30.
