Location: VAS Foyer
To coincide with the biennial Norma Bull Portraiture Scholarship Award in August this year, VAS has been lucky to secure approximately 15 works by Norma Bull, on loan from the Wesley College Collection.
Normal Bull was a significant Australian artist, born in Melbourne in 1906 and working in both Britain and Australia until her death in 1980.
She worked in both watercolour and oils and also produced many fine etchings. Her works are represented in many collections, including the Imperial War Museum in London and the personal collection of art held by the late Queen Mother.
Besides the Norma Bull Scholarship, VAS is fortunate enough to be the custodians of a series of copper etching plates, prints of which are held in public galleries throughout Australia.
The Wesley artworks, together with several of Norma’s works in the VAS Collection, will be displayed in the foyer gallery throughout August and September.
We would like to pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which our building stands, their leaders, past, present and emerging.
