This work is from my 'Moody Mountain' series, currently in progress. It is inspired by the magnificent Samaria Gorge, South West Crete, Chania, Greece which I visited in 2017. I have chosen 'moody mountains' as a theme due to their paradoxical capacities to both: inspire and intimidate, delight and disturb, tantalise and terrify, be places of solace and uneasiness, be splendid and shocking, and stand as meaningful metaphors for both the successes and failures of individuals striving to achieve their goals in life. Mountains subject to seasonal snow also stand as earth’s sobering signposts alerting all to the devastating effects of climate change as evidenced by the increasing decline in snow falls and rapid glacier melts around the world.
