Dianthus, the scientific name of carnation, comes from a combination of two Latin words: 'dios', meaning 'gods', and 'anthos', meaning 'flower'. Carnations are referred to as the flowers of the gods.
Carnation flowers are also thought to be one of the oldest cultivated flowers in the world.
Flowers of carnation stands for Love, Fascination and Distinction.
Carnation symbolized maternal love in varies culture.
I thought about my family far away while painting this artwork. I hope they are all healthy and well.
This is also a reminder—Gift the person you love /care about a flower, a cup of hot tea, or say a heartfelt 'I Love you' or 'I miss you' while you can, whenever you think of them.
