My name is Robert (Bob) Young
I was born in London England.
Departed England for Australia in 1964 for work in the paper industry at Wiggins Teap in Nowra NSW.
Studied Watercolour, Drawing and Composition with (the then) Department of Technical Education in Sydney in 1972 where I took night studies in Art at the old Darlinghurst goal and at the Randwick campus.
Work commitments found me leaving Sydney for Melbourne where I did a short course in Pottery at the Melbourne City based RMIT while working as The Commercial manager at the Dallas Brooks Centre in East Melbourne. My thirty years with the DBC enabled me in managing events ranging from international concerts, conferences and the home of Freemasons Victoria with all their events not only in Melbourne but all over Victoria.
I have been a member of The Victorian Artists Society since 2016 and have enjoyed studying Oil painting with Stephen Doyle and Water Colour with Maxine Wade. I have also enjoyed monitoring the Saturday afternoon Life Drawing sessions at VAS where I have greatly improved my drawing skills.
I have sold artwork privately and with The Victorian Artist Society; work sold though the 2018 Bargain sales exhibition and the Student and Teachers exhibition in the same year.
When working in Oils or Watercolour I want my paintings to convey a story; only now do I appreciate that my life’s journey was/is so packed with images from the past and the present waiting to be expressed.
We would like to pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which our building stands, their leaders, past, present and emerging.
