This portrait was completed in four sittings, working directly from the subject. Max's working career was in applied chemistry, and later, water and environmental management. A talented sportsman, he played football at the top level. His passion and gift for music lead him to study and play a variety of genres professionally. These interests are represented with the glass of water, the folded newspaper, and his hands placed as they would be on a drum.
