Flinders St Station 2, Meet you under the Clock Tower

This painting is inspired by the clock tower’s stripes, which informed my use of lines throughout this entire piece. I applied that idea to the building, using lines to define and meticulously capture the windows and other architectural features on each side of the structure. This watercolour depicts a long building with a clock tower set against a pink and purple sky.The building’s facade is vibrant, with shades of yellow and orange that seem to glow. The ground is a canvas of intricate patterns, with tram lines weaving in and out, further defined by horizontal lines that add texture and depth. Overhead cable lines stretch across the sky, loosely mirroring the patterns on the ground.In the midst of the bustling cityscape, I also drew three tram cars, each one distinct, with one closer to the viewer and the others more distant amidst the busy crowd, adding a sense of perspective and movement. The tramlines on the ground are a key element, reflecting Melbourne’s transportation system and the way that is woven into the city’s fabric. The entire piece is a dynamic blend of colour and line work, capturing the energy and beauty of the city.
