When not drawing, I spent most of my childhood with my nose in a book. One of my go-to books was an original collection of Grimm's fairy tales. Not the sanitized or Disneyfied version, but the original, somewhat gory unsettling tales. One of many variants of this tale, Grimm's version features all the key elements of a good fairy tale: good vs. evil, sibling rivalry, a chain of quests, an animal helper and the eventual success and culmination of winning the hand of a beautiful princess! An all time favourite story that brings back happy memories of winter days reading while lying on my bed, closed off from the world raging around me.
