I am a plant obsessed lady. While I had to put a pause on my collection due to lack of space, my hands got an itch to paint and draw them. When I saw this gorgeous tricolour Tadescantia “Wandering Jew” in a wicker basket, I could not resist. Sketched out in pen first, then layers of acrylic wash applied. You can see from the drips of wash just how watered down it is. Once dry, I use a semi continuous line in the detail until the plant comes to life. I use a lot of continued line work to create a sense of movement and energy from the plant. This piece is an original work on stonehenge paper. Framed in a raw oak frame, floating on top of white backing board. With glass protecting the work from the elements. Ready to hang with coated wire and d-rings.
