Self-taught artist, Renee Mitchells finely-honed line work reference a detailed knowledge of technical drawing combined with a love of control play, be it with expressive line work in ink pens, or heat in pyrography pens.
A passion for pens and love of freedom and movement can be seen in Mitchell’s largest body of works. In her Scratch Series Wildlife and Still Life alike show fine detail and lose line working together in harmony to bring the subject to life. A portion of these works combine pen with acrylic paint and at times silver and gold leaf, offering a mixed media contemporary take on the traditional portrait and still life.
While Mitchell's pyrography works appeal to her control over the medium, with the management of heat on timber board, combined with mix media (acrylic, pencil and silver leave) to give the subject an almost 3d like tactile appeal.
We would like to pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which our building stands, their leaders, past, present and emerging.
