In this painting 'Just Passing Through', I have attempted to capture a serene mood that also has a quiet tension, like a scene from a road movie or a personal journey. The white car passing through town with the midday sun casting dark shadows on a parched landscape becomes a symbol of transience, a lone traveler passing through a place where time stands still; there is the suggestion of stories behind every shuttered window and faded sign. I think the influence of Edward Hopper seems evident in the interplay of light and shadow, creating a sense of loneliness within the ordinary. Similarly, film maker David Lynch’s touch lends an undercurrent of unease, as though something is slightly off, hinting at a mysterious tension beneath the town’s static surface. The car becomes a fragile link between motion and stasis, symbolising both escape and searching for purpose.
