Richard is a digital and multidisciplinary artist with an interest in photopolymer etching. As an extension to his practice, Richard judges art shows, runs demonstrations and workshops.
After HSC he studied Art and Design at Caulfield Institute of Technology. He continued his studies at Toorak Teacher’s College finishing in the top 10 of the graduates of his year. He has completed a Master’s in Educational Studies with a focus on Art and ICT.
Richard taught in schools for thirty years from Prep to VCE. During the Kennett years, Richard was head of Art and ICT at Caulfield Junior College. His school was selected as one of the twelve in the state as a model school for the use of ICT across the curriculum. The school was a State Government show piece and was often visited by teams of teachers from around the Australia as well as international visitors. For several years he was a curriculum consultant for the Southern Region running workshops and courses for teachers, bursars, and principals.
Richard was employed at Brighton Secondary College as the head of the ICT faculty with mandate to drive whole school change in the use of ICT. Over his teaching career, Richard has also served on numerous school councils and on a Principal’s advisory committee.
Richard was a winner of the Herald Sun and Monash University Teacher of the Year, for the best use of New Technology (Primary).
Richard is currently the President, of the Victorian Artists Society. He is also a member of the Brighton Art Society, the Firestation Print Studio, the Contemporary Art Society, WSV and MAVA.
