The village of Lacoste in the Petit Luberon lies within the Golden Triangle of Plus Beaux (best-preserved) villages in the Vaucluse region of Provence. The village rises steeply from the D109, so it was a challenging climb up the narrow, cobbled walkway to reach the corner, which is dominated by this ancient Boulanger. The village, originally a Protestant bastion, is topped by the ruined Chateau Lacoste, formerly owned by the infamous Marquis de Sade.
