Created whilst musing on the sacrifices and iconography around saints and their martyrdom.
Saint George The Great Martyr's martyrdom was greatly extended to more than twenty separate tortures over the course of seven years. I wanted to depicted the suffering on the breaking wheel, where he was lashed to a wheel covered in spikes and rolled until he was to be bloody and unrecognisable. Through faith he remained unharmed.
Work is able to be hung with wire on the back or stood on a plinth as exhibited
Exhibited within the VAS "Unspoken' Exhibition.
