Throughout my life, I have painted impressions of the Barwon River from a seat at the water's edge at the back of River View Camping Ground at Ocean Grove. Low is freely painted in gouache capturing a mood of the river in summer. I particularly like how with lyrical mark-making the sandy foreground with shallow pools have been captured. I have also painted a pair of the same size and frame at high tide. I often paint in series, groups or pairs. This was one of the three locations at Ocean Grove shown in my exhibition, 'Sea Air' at Geelong Gallery as part of their Shell Regional Artist Program in 2009.
