This is a joyous gouache glimpse of Kate’s magnificent Melbourne garden. I painted this on location from a close vantage point. Plants are clearly identifiable. The foreground red dahlias complement the greens of the foliage that unify my composition. The darks of the cypress hedge and throughout the painting adds vibrancy to this colourful work and create depth. The path and the open composition invite you to wonder what is beyond.
