Part of an ongoing series of portraits that I'm working on. This is sculptor Tessa Wallis working on some wax miniature figurines in her studio. The process she is doing in this painting is called 'Chasing' (where a heated metal tool is used to rub out the marks that show the parting line or flashing where the pieces of the mould came together.) I was amused by the term 'Chasing' in stark contrast to Tessa's calm, still and peaceful energy as she works away on the fine detail of her project - hence my play with words in the painting title In Hot Pursuit of the Wax Form.
