Migration is important in shaping personal identity. “I had a dream last night!” explores and questions ideas about the process of identity changes influenced by artist’s migration experience. Factors and conditions that an individual is born with—such as ethnic heritage, sex, or one’s body—often play a role in defining one’s identity. However, many aspects of a person’s identity change throughout his or her life. In this painting, Mana is influenced by her own migration experiences and embrace a feeling of unbelonging, mystery and dream.
