Mana’s painterly compositions are inspired by ‘The Rose Plate,’ which is commonly used by Persians. The Homeland series aims to create a visual documentation of the connection between Mana’s country of origin (Iran) and her journey to Australia.
Mana’s recent inspirations have led her towards more abstract and intuitive approaches. The processes of layering paint, lines and shapes reflect her surrendering to those intuitions and following other sides of her creative self.
This painting is part of a larger body of work, entitled ‘Homeland.’
