Fragile Earth Journey from Solastalgia to Eutierria

This mixed media painting is an exploration of the journey from the emotion ‘Solastalgia ‘to the emotion ‘Eutierria,‘ (both words created by Australian philosopher Glenn A. Albrecht.-Earth Emotions -New words for a new world ) Solastalgia is the distress that is produced by environmental change impacting on people while they are directly connected to their home environment.“Eutierria - A positive feeling of oneness with the earth and its life forces where the boundaries between self and the rest of nature are obliterated and a deep sense of peace and connectedness pervades consciousness” Inspired by the book Earth Emotions by Glen A Albrecht I have tried to capture visually the journey between these two emotions that perhaps we all experience about the earth our home.
