"Fish Trophy" forms part of "The Artist's Collections" series where I imagine I am a collector of real and imagined objects. In this work, I am a collector of plastic, ceramic, wood and metal objects all pretending to be fish. Somehow, I've won a trophy for this collection (or for real fishing prowess maybe?). I am interested in a meta-analysis of painting, materiality and illusion: here, these objects pretending to be something other are rendered in blobs and strokes of paint on a 2D surface giving the illusion of something else.
