2019 was a very dry and troubling spring, with little rain the threat of climate change felt very real. Here I wanted to include the flowers and trees that grow on this hillside and the hill as it extends to the adjacent forest and I hoped to capture the sense of urgency. It troubles me so much of our forest is cleared for pine forest and agriculture before we even know exactly what grows and lives there and what is the relationship of these plants to one another.
In this watercolour I have brought together many of the techniques I have developed and taught over the years and used them to make a statement about something I know and am concerned about.
