This annual exhibition, featuring the Nada Hunter Portraiture prizes celebrates portraiture in all genres with an inspiring array of talent by some of Victoria’s emerging and established artists who have skillfully captured the human spirit.

The Portrait exhibition will be judged by celebrated figurative and portrait artist, Lewis Miller.
LEWIS MILLER
The Judge for this year's Portrait Exhibition will be Lewis Miller. Lewis is represented by 'Australian Galleries'.
Highly celebrated figurative and still life painter Lewis Miller was born in Melbourne in 1959 and trained at the Victorian College of the Arts, where he also completed his post graduate studies. He exhibits regularly at Australian Galleries in Melbourne and Sydney and at Bruce Heiser Projects in Brisbane.

Come along to our free open day featuring live painting by 15 of the top VAS portraiture artists.
This event features 15 VAS artists painting from 5 models in the upstairs galleries. Painting begins at 11am and continues through to 4pm, with guests welcome any time in between to watch the portraits take shape throughout the day.

'Portrait of Doug Kettles', oil by Gregory R Smith VAS FVAS
Celebrated VAS artist, tutor and past president, Gregory R Smith will demonstrate his tonal realist approach to portraiture by painting VAS president, Richard Impey.
This event will take place against the backdrop of Gregory R Smith's 44th solo exhibition, 'Within a New Light' in the upper galleries.
The demonstration will begin at 1:15pm and run for approximately 1½ to 2 hours. Refreshments will be served.
