Inspired by my mother who has forged forward through a number of health challenges, "Strength and Perseverance" is a tribute to resilience, centered on the enduring Banksia flower—a natural symbol of perseverance. Painted in bold acrylics, the composition is grounded in earthy greens and browns, colors chosen to echo steadfastness and quiet strength. The Banksia’s robust form stands as a visual anchor, while its feather-like petals evoke the ability to rise above life’s challenges, adding a sense of uplift and hope to the piece. Subtle details invite a closer look: a triskelion motif is woven into the heart of the flower, representing cycles of growth and renewal, while a hidden scarab beetle alludes to transformation and the power to overcome adversity. These symbols add layers of meaning and personal connection. Through vibrant color, intricate detail, and intentional symbolism, "Strength and Perseverance" offers more than a botanical study—it is an invitation to reflect on the hidden strengths within ourselves, and to find inspiration in the quiet resilience and uplifting spirit of the natural world.
