A modern take on allegorical paintings of Hope, originally by George Frederic Watts and Edward Burne-Jones, Hope Springs Eternal reimagines hope as active and self-directed. In a stylised park, a woman blows on a dandelion—an intentional gesture that initiates change. Articulating a dream is the first step toward making it real. The grass shimmers like water; trees dissolve into otherworldly scaffolds; colour and pattern vibrate, as if her breath sets time in motion. Woven through the surface are Sinhala words of jaya (victory), apekshava (hope), and dhairya (courage), these are echoing her inner chant. Grounded and focused, she chooses her direction and moves forward with resolve.
