Jaden is a Mexican American student who recently graduated from the same creative writing program of which I earned my first university degree. I was asked to mentor him for a few months to help him transition into the work world. Using video chat software, he in the US and I in Australia, we met. Soon we became good friends. We have been meeting once a month for three years now in order to discuss our creative practise--whatever it is. He is now exploring creating art to add to his creative writing zine! I get tremendous joy from painting people like Jaden!
