I'm an oil painter who attempts to record his visual experience using an approach centred on tone, with subtle (hopefully) manipulations of form and colour to direct a viewer's eye. My inspiration for this came, initially, from visiting the Isle of Skye where the majesty of the observed landscape differed notably from the photographs I recorded.
I've been a VAS member since 2013 and received a VAS Signatory Award in 2020. I've held multiple joint and solo shows during this time.
Perhaps my most significant achievement was to paint a picture every day, for a year, during 2013/14. Most of these paintings are securely hidden in my studio, but the hours of learning from my mistakes were invaluable.
We would like to pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which our building stands, their leaders, past, present and emerging.
