A VAS Members exclusive workshop!

Want to improve your understanding of the visual world and how to translate that with oil paint?

Perched high in the Otways, our Skenes Creek site for this workshop overlooks the Southern Ocean with waterfalls, walks, and rainforest views at every turn.

Supported by VAS artist TJ Murphy, practice the discipline of plein air painting in this picturesque spot.

We will cover a variety of topics including:

• Materials and set up

• Composition

• Tones/values

• Colour

• Edges

• Paint application/quality

The aim of the workshop is to enhance our visual understanding of the world and how to replicate that using traditional materials and techniques. By the end we should have the skills necessary to feel confident heading out into the world on our own painting adventures!

Please note that this offsite workshop is running in tandem with our annual Members Paint Out 4 Day Trip. If you haven't been on a plein air weekend before, this is a great place to start. Participants are welcome to stay on for the remainder of the weekend. Membership is required to join this workshop. Skenes Creek is on the Great Ocean Road approximately 2.5 hours drive from Melbourne.
