An exhibition of recent watercolour paintings by Maxine Wade.
'This exhibition represents my recent watercolour paintings, covering a wide range of subjects including landscape, portraits, still life and urban scenes. "LUX" means light—and I am certainly concerned with representing strong light and shade.'
'High contrast painting has always driven me and it’s a challenge in watercolour painting. Many of these works also explore textures, another aspect of watercolour that interests me very much.'

An exploration in paintings of the human figure and face by Grazia Marin.
'Most living things are drawn to their own kind. For most of my art practice I have been fascinated by the human form and face: the roundness of muscles, the turn of the body, the reflection of light on skin, the individuality in faces. Face and Form is an exploration in paintings of the human figure and face.
The collection began during an arts residency at the Brimbank City Council studios. During the residency, I was able to experiment with figurative paintings, thereby bringing to life an idea that had been brewing for quite some time. Included in this work was presenting the figures in abstract, decorative settings.'

The Victorian Artists Society is proud to present its annual Contemporary Exhibition sponsored by the George Hicks Foundation.
In this exhibition artists have been asked to explore subjects from a modern perspective, challenging themselves creatively. Digital works included. The exhibition will showcase work by emerging and established artists.
In general, ‘Contemporary’ refers to styles developed from the second half of the 20th century up until today. It often deals with current social and cultural issues and exploits new media and subverts or reinvents tradition.
The VAS Contemporary Exhibition features a $5000 prize sponsored by the George Hicks Foundation.
The 2021 VAS Contemporary Exhibition Sculpture Award will also be presented on the evening.
Please join us for the opening, awards presentation and book launch on Tuesday 9 March at 7pm.
This is a COVID-safe event. RSVP is essential by Monday 8 March 2021.
