I am a Melbourne based artist with a lifelong passion to paint. Primarily 'still life' subjects, with a fascination for china, glass and silver, revealing their charm in rich and vibrant oil paint. But anything beautiful that Mother Nature can offer is subject matter for my paintings. Aiming always to paint from life because of the subtleties of light and form this presents.
Working firstly with a sequence of underpaintings built up in layers until there is nothing left to add. Striving to maintain a freshness, a luminosity and keeping a balance between technique and emotion.
Influence and inspiration coming from the skills and observances of the French and American impressionists. Tonal impressionists being foremost.
Finally, my mission is to create something of beauty.
