I have drawn the world around me for as long as I can remember. This love for working from life is foundational to my practice, alongside a respect for process, craft, and deep research. I hope to invite viewers to share a moment of quiet intensity with my work, and reap the same rewards as I do when looking at the world.
A rigorous engagement with the paintings and drawings of the European Masters, initially at Rob Gutteridge School of Classical Realism, Australia, and subsequently at Studio Escalier, France, was the focus of my formal education. Other influences include my training in anatomy and in classical music, a lifelong exposure to traditional Chinese art, and an appreciation for stories told in any medium.
We would like to pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which our building stands, their leaders, past, present and emerging.
