Against the Seas: Ceramic, encaustic wax and handmade cordage sculpture inspired by Cole Brauer, the first American woman sailor to sail single-handedly around the world, non-stop and unassisted. I know that she wasn't the 'first' woman to do it, our Australian Kay Cottee was, but to see a 29-year-old woman do it and share her experiences was wonderful and inspired my creative journey as Cole journeyed around the globe.
