This term we explore the Indirect Method of painting with acrylics. When this method is done correctly the results are truly spectacular. Images appear three - dimensional and artworks pop!
The first few weeks of the course will include a drawing portion as we look at understanding tones and capturing light and dark. This will flow into painting and how to create a sophisticated finished underpainting, called a Grisaille. From there we look at and experiment with glazing transparent layers of colour to bring our underpainting to life with a very satisfying sculptural and virtual appearance.
Term one's focus will be on still life projects with the aim of building up student confidence into portraiture for term two using the same method.
Be advised, the Indirect Method requires patience and commitment and is not recommended for people who wish to paint fast and unrestrained. This class is suitable for beginners to intermediate painters and also people who want to learn this truly effective technique.
