This subject was first explored through photography and formed the basis of my solo exhibition A Place in the Sun, which examined the fragility of nature within manmade environments. The series was exhibited at Gallery Xposure, Rozelle (NSW), and reflected my concerns as an environmentalist about the pressures human activity places on the natural world.
Returning to this work years later, I am now re-engaging with the imagery through oil painting. In a time of accelerating technological change, extremism and environmental uncertainty, the work reflects a shift in perspective - suggesting that it is humanity, rather than nature, that is most at risk.
