Through some examples of the great masters John Singer Sargent and J.M.W. Turner, we will examine their marvellous watercolour techniques to improve your own painting and elevate your understanding of the medium of watercolour.
In the course of our 2 day study, we will revise wash techniques, study of values, colour mixing, perspective and atmospheric perspective, compositional devices, angle of viewpoint, the use and application of various brushes, paper type and format.
On Day 1 we will emulate their techniques & processes and on Day 2, we will create 1 or 2 paintings that put their practices into action, while still allowing you to display your own style.
This is an opportunity to deepen your watercolour experience and gain a better understanding of this beautiful and capricious medium, with Sargent and Turner as your teachers.
This workshop is only suitable for students with some watercolour experience.
