Victorian Artists Society Paint Out
Victorian Artists Society artists painting in the Treasury Gardens yesterday.
Artists from the Victorian Artists Society replicated the historic legacy of the organisation with a Plein Air Paint Out in the Treasury Gardens on Sunday morning.
In the morning sunshine the artists painted the landscapes of the Treasury Gardens – the Garden’s landscape of trees and the historic Commonwealth and State Government buildings of the Government office precinct.
Picnics and paint outs in the Fitzroy Gardens and Treasury Gardens were a common social event for the members of the Victorian Artists' Society in the 1890s, which will celebrate its 150th Anniversary in 2020.
