16 Jul 2021 - 9 Aug 2021
Celebrate your city in an exhibition featuring the iconic architecture, lively markets and beautiful natural and human environments of Melbourne.

'Our Melbourne' is an exhibition celebrating the parks, rivers, streets and buildings of our beautiful city. Explore the hidden lanes, colourful night lights, vibrant markets and the transforming urban architecture of the Melbourne skyline in the galleries of the Victorian Artists Society, painted by award winning Victorian artists.

This is a great opportunity to reconnect with your city while visiting one of Melbourne's most iconic heritage listed buildings, a centre of art in Australia for 150 years and a beautiful example of American Romanesque Architecture.

This view was captured when Melbourne city was quietly in lockdown. While the city remained static without busy flows formed by vehicles or people hurrying off work, the setting sun began to play with colours in a free and lively way. The vast streams of golden light converged on the surface of Melbourne city and connected all the silent objects with overwhelming warmth. At that moment, those buildings were animated with characters and emotions of their own.

Stroll in the Winter Sun, Federation Square

Medium: Watercolour

Artist: Annee Kelly

Price:  $ 750.00

After visiting recently the Australian Impressionists Exhibition at the NGV, I stopped to have a hot chocolate at Mama’s Canteen, Federation Square. The winter sun was out and I saw immediately a scene which I longed to capture, with the iconic Flinders Station and the city buildings in the background, the many people enjoying a stroll or relaxing on deck chairs and the gum trees softening this city scape. I managed to do a quick sketch which helped me, along with some photographs, recreate this scene in the studio. The painting is framed in soft silver, is under glass with a double mount.
