After visiting recently the Australian Impressionists Exhibition at the NGV, I stopped to have a hot chocolate at Mama’s Canteen, Federation Square. The winter sun was out and I saw immediately a scene which I longed to capture, with the iconic Flinders Station and the city buildings in the background, the many people enjoying a stroll or relaxing on deck chairs and the gum trees softening this city scape. I managed to do a quick sketch which helped me, along with some photographs, recreate this scene in the studio.
The painting is framed in soft silver, is under glass with a double mount.
