The apple as symbol has been used in storytelling since man emerged from the cave. It represents love, beauty, wisdom, temptation, immortality, knowledge and discord, innocence, vanity and transience. This work is made from bronze representing immortality. I used recycled plastic shopping bags to create an apple, took a mold, cast a wax and then cast a bronze. The process itself is imbedded with many meanings. The bronze is encased in a museum cloche to venerate the fruit and is it really an apple? Magritte makes me smile.
