This work is a part of my new ‘Woman’s business’ series, using mostly 9x5 and 8x10 scale for a more intimate look at womanhood and issues we face as we get older. They are made on my kitchen table using gelli prints and stencilling methods for layered backgrounds, and POSCA print markers for freehand stylised drawings in the foreground.
My work is inspired by recent personal experiences as well as artists Frida Kahlo and Georga O’Keeffe. In addition, as a photographer who finds her inspiration in the natural world, I have always enjoyed the humorous works of Arcimboldo and his idiosyncratic portraits using fruits, vegetables and grains.
