Robert Wade was introduced to watercolour at an early age by his father but is otherwise self-taught. He worked for forty years in the fields of advertising, screen printing and graphic arts. In 1985 and 1986 he was the VAS Artist of the Year. His work is represented worldwide in private, corporate and institutional collections. In 1986 he received the Advance Australia Medal for his contribution to Australian art and in 2003 the Medal of the Order of Australia.

A memorial event will take place at VAS on February 27th at 6.30.
