This is a hands-on low-pressure class for beginners in using hand painted and torn paper in collage. A still life display will be created by the class.
You will learn how to paint the paper and utilise torn edges in ways that enhance the artistic nature of your work. You will see how to apply the glue and the products used for sealing the painting once dry. You will be shown artworks made using these techniques and you will see how the tonal nature of the paint enables 3-dimensional outcomes. You will learn to relax when things are not perfect as the imperfections are more artistic in nature.
Presented as part of Imprint: What Remains, this workshop complements Philippa Croll's exhibition Spectrum.
