Breaking Out from the COVID-19 lockdowns, landscape painters from the Victorian Artists Society rekindled the historic legacy of the VIC ARTS organisation with a Paint Out this morning at the scenic Dights Falls on the Yarra River in Abbotsford.
Celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2020, the Victorian Artists Society has some of the most famous landscape painters in the world embedded in its membership, including Sir Arthur Streeton, Walter Withers, Tom Roberts, Frederick McCubbin and Clara Southern, a councillor of the Victorian Artists Society in 1900.
As part of the COVID-19 recovery, Paint Outs in the city, parks and the Docklands could add to the revivalism of Melbourne.
Congratulations to John Hurle, VAS Councillor, for his outstanding contribution to the Victorian Artists Society, including the coordination and the development of the VAS Arts Paint Outs over the past six years.
