I have fond memories of my grandmother, who enjoyed sponge cake and tea with her neighbours. She delighted in hats, flowers, gloves, stylish purses, and other feminine trinkets. In painting 'Ode to Mama', I have sought to honour her and romanticize the everyday in her era.
