Over ten weeks, instructor Lucy Maddox will guide learners to create studies and resolved pieces from observation with an emphasis on colour, light, and accurate drawing. 

Painting from observation means painting from what your eye perceives directly - this means that all subject matter will be physically present in the classroom, such as still life set-ups. There will also be opportunities for plein air painting, weather depending. 

If a learner has a specific painting goal, this can also be discussed with the instructor.

The class is suited to painters of all skill levels, beginners included, as instruction will include both foundational skill building and individualised feedback.

As Lucy emphasises safe painting practices, please refrain from bringing solvents of any kind into this class, including those marketed as “odourless” or “non-toxic.”
