Faced with this ordinary middle-aged woman from Hong Kong, who has the characteristic of a sagging belly, I smoothed the bottom of my charcoal stick to depict the soft texture and form of the sagging belly, adjusting the relationship between local details and the overall composition. As for the long, curved line below the navel, I transformed the model’s original connection of two or three smaller details into a single bold and powerful line, creating a sense of continuity and structure. Additionally, in the clavicle area, I also made certain integrations and enhancements. Sometimes, I consider incorporating elements from traditional Chinese painting into life drawing of the human figure.
