Specifically for artists already familiar with oil painting, this workshop is designed to develop existing oil painting skills using colour and tonal planes to work up a portrait likeness. Over two days, artists will have the opportunity to delve into rendering facial features and hands and learn tips for achieving three dimensional qualities.
The group will be working at standing easels from a live portrait model. Jennifer will guide and direct the progression of the painting sessions to create a sound foundation on which to build individual style.
The class will focus on beginning a portrait, tonal progression and techniques for self- correction as well as practising quick, confident decision-making when painting facial features and hands.
The class is designed to explore technique and painting development from the very first brush strokes rather than achieving a ‘perfect’ finished portrait at the completion of the workshop.
Artists will be given full-colour information sheets with notes from the workshop to serve as a future resource.
