In 1895, urgently needing money to complete the new building for the Victorian Artists Society, a three day Artists Festival was organised at the Exhibition Buildings and surrounding gardens.
Entertainment included foot racing, and gymnastics, duels in costume, dancing and a concert by the Melbourne Amateur Orchestra Society.
This year seventy paintings capturing a wide variety of styles and garden subjects have been submitted by artists and assembled by members of the Victorian Artists Society International Flower and Garden Show Exhibition Team.
Members of the Victorian Artists Society will have artworks on display in the Gallery Precinct of the Royal Exhibition Buildings.

We would like to pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which our building stands, their leaders, past, present and emerging.
